Our route starts in Cape Town and follows ‘the garden route’ along the coast to Durban. A trip inland to Lesotho and it’s wild mountains of the Drakensburgs may occur. From Durban we fly to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, filled with deserts and stark mountains. Then overland to Botswana, which includes the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari desert.
Then north to Victoria falls, before following the Zambezi River across southern Zambia to Malawi. This landlocked nation is centered around a large freshwater lake which is surrounded by jungle covered mountains and plateaus. Then across northern Mozambique, following the beaches and ruins of Arabian slave trading posts north into Tanzania. Off the coast is Zanzibar with its stone forts and narrow alleys. Northern Tanzania has the game parks of Serengeti and Mt Kilamanjaro, and if time allows a trip to Uganda and its jungles.
